Pre Light-Construction was great with a nice oily sheen to the wrapper. Cigar was packed solid with no blemishes or large veins. I picked up a barnyard smell on wrapper and foot with a spice note on foot as well. This cigar has a beautiful triple cap which is classic with Don Pepin. Cold draw was a bit snug more than I like we will see if it affects the cigar any.
1st Third-Classic Don Pepin lots of spice and pepper noted even thru tha nasal passage I got a great tingle sensation of pepper not burning through the nose.I also picked up some woody notes. The ash was almost perfect white and was packed solid holding on about 1 inch. Draw was snug but I wasnt fighting to get smoke. Burn was crisp and clean.
2nd Third-The spice was still the main component with the pepper going awayI started to pick up a floral note thru the retrohale and the woody notes were there in the background. The burn continued to be flawless and the ash was beautifully packed. The floral note I can’t explain on the retrohale but it kinda reminded me of a sage note.
Final Third-The floral notes seem to go away and the pepper notes return thru the nose. Spice and wood were still there and the cigar continued to perform perfectly with a nice burn and ash.
Conclusion- My Don Pepin Cuban Classic had great notes of spice and pepper with a woody note. Midway a surprising note of floral thru retrohale that of a sage note. One of the best burning cigars I’ve had with a gorgeous white ash that was solid thruout. This is a perfect medium body and medium flavor smoke. Go out and try this wonderful smoke. As always ENJOY.
