I don’t believe that this brand needs any introductions and there is really nothing else to write that it hasn’t been already written. This specific Grand Cru was a gift from my buddy Francis and he was ageing it for about 2 years. I’m actually curious for the results.

It’s not my first Davidoff ever, but I catch myself staring at it for quite some time and let me tell you, this cigar is a piece of art. The characteristic white ring with gold lettering truly gets the attention and makes the stogie to stand out from other cigars on the shelve. The fade brown wrapper is absolutely perfect, no veins, spots or any other blemishes and has been rolled carefully with no wrinkles and visible shims. Also, looking for soft spots is a waste of time. The aroma coming from the body of the cigar is similar to hay and from the foot just sheet tobacco.

Francis insisted to light it up with the piece of cedar I found in the aluminum tube. I followed the instructions. The smell of the smoke that was coming while I was toasting the foot was unbelievable. The first couple draws are very light, not a lot of flavor. I barely taste some cedar. Thankfully the stogie changes its profile quickly and becomes a little more exciting. Now I taste coffee with a touch of pepper. At times I even get flavors of roasted nuts and rarely hints of cocoa that don’t last long. It turned into ashes with no further changes.

Maintenance free and no burn issues this Davidoff produced the whole time white thick smoke and a long lasting light grey ash that was falling in one piece every time. I hear people complaining about the price though, but I don’t agree with them, at least not for this Grand Cru #3. Don’t forget it’s a quality premium cigar made by one of the most well known cigar manufacturers in the industry.

I would recommend the Davidoff Grand Cru No.3  to the beginners aficionados or those who want to start their day with a mild cigar and even pair it with a cup of coffee. I could also say that is a fair alternative smoking enjoyment to an Ashton or AVO.
