Ambos Mundos (Both Worlds) is another great cigar made by Pete Johnson and the Garcia Family, and to be more specific, by Jaime at the My Father factory in Nicaragua. The size I’m reviewing is the Grande which is like a robust extra. Let’s see what this stogie has to offer.
I love the color of the habano wrapper - milk chocolaty with some golden shades. It’s also very oily and has a few quite big veins. The triple cap couldn’t be missing since it’s also a tat trademark. Nicely packed and with a burn-yard aroma. From the foot I get a rich smell of hay. The cold draw it’s a bit tight but nothing to worry to about with a grassy taste.
I light up in seconds. It gives me a thick cloud of smoke. The usual peppery blast that I find in Johnson/Garcia’s smokes surprisingly is missing. The stogie has a touch of spice and a lot of sweet cocoa that makes immediately my mouth watery. Towards the mid-point the only difference was the addition of some leathery notes and that the cocoa while was still there, lost its sweetness. The final third was full of extra roasted espresso with a cedary aftertaste.
Up to the end of the second third the stogie was burning nice and even with no problems at all, after that, it became a little wavy and needed couple corrections. The price is excellent and affordable enough to be an everyday smoke.
I know they say that the Ambos Mundos is made with second and third quality tobacco. Personally I don’t care. I liked what I smoked and for 6 bucks for this size, is a go-to stick. I definitely recommend you to give it a try.

Nice review Gus. I had a couple of these a few weeks ago and didnt care too much for them. I kept thinkng though that they might benefit from some age. Will see, I’ll try again, the price on these certainly is attractive.

Hi Aaron. I had two for the review and liked both. Who knows maybe its not the right cigar for you…. Age will help, I agree
