Today I bring you a sort of special cigar. This stick is in limited supply and will spike in price within the next few months. So if you want em grab them now. The 2009 version of this cigar has a rich brown and oily wrapper with no prominent veins. The aroma of the wrapper is of sweet barnyard as well as the foot. It has a perfectly applied triple cap and in my opinion this is an all-around great looking stick
With the initial start to the 2009 you are met with that signature Pete/Pepin pepper but it soon fades to the background. When the pepper subdues you are met with a sweet coffee that coats your palette. The cigar produces lots of smoke with a solid light grey ash. The burn is a little wavy but manageable as it corrects itself.
As we pull into the halfway point of the cigar I still taste that same coffee flavor but am met with a nice cedar background. The pepper that died off at the beginning of our journey seems to be slowly creeping back into the picture.
Pulling into the end of this cigar I still had that coffee flavor but it seemed to get creamier and sweeter and the cigar progressed. There was a slight nut and cedar flavor in the background and the pepper seemed to come back into full swing. The burn needed a few touchups here and there towards the end but nothing to complain about.
All in all I have to say that I think the 2009 is by far better than the 2008 release. The flavors were richer and more complex than last years. I still don’t think I would pay the later price for them and the initial release. I paid approx. $11 a stick for these but within the next month or so they will probably be shooting up to around $20-22 per stick and I think that is a little extreme. They are well worth the price they are at right now so if you are interested get out there and get them.
Keep em burnin’
