“The challenge was to create a complex large ring gage cigar using all rich tobaccos and maintain a good burn. It’s a large ring gage for the refined palette.”
~ George Rodriguez
Pre Light
Today I will go into the newest blend from boutique cigar brand owner George Rodriguez. The G6 is a 6×60 monster of a cigar. To be totally up front I am not usually interested into the 6×60 cigars but I know George and he makes a great product so I decided to give it a go. The wrapper on this cigar is very attractive with its milk chocolate color and oily sheen. It has a minimal amount of veins and smells of a sweet barnyard with a hint of spice. The draw after I remove the cap is free even though the cigar is very generously packed with tobacco.
1st Third
The first few puffs off this monster I am detecting notes of a coffee with hints of cocoa in the background. The draw still is free flowing with lots and lots of smoke is emanating from both the head and foot of the cigar. The burn is a little wavy but manageable (I can’t really blame the burn of the cigar on the cigar because the humidity the past 2 weeks has been ridiculous.)
2nd third
The ash is hanging on strong but that is kind of expected with how much tobacco is used in these big cigars. The strong ash is knocked loose and I continue my journey where I am still picking up the notes of cocoa along with some notes of nuts. The flavors are nice and smooth and not at all subdued as u find in the bigger ring gage smokes.
Final Third
Here at the end of our journey the spice factor picked up quite a bit. The flavors were still there and were still delicious. The burn stayed even throughout and had no major construction issues.
Overall
The G6 in my opinion is right up there with the other recent releases of large ring gage cigars. . The flavors were all there without being watered down in the large ring gage. The construction was perfect in everyone that I smoked. For those interested this particular blend also comes in a G4 6.25×54 and a G5 5×56 (they come in boxes of 10.) George doesn’t have them in many stores but you can visit his website of hit him up on his twitter page and he will gladly ship them to you.
AND THE WINNER IS:

I have not tried the G6 but I did smoke a couple of the G4 6.25×54 and I have to tell you that this is an excellent cigar. I highly recommend it. Thanks for the review Robb. George – great job with the cigar.

I’m embarrassed to say that even though Rodrigo is our sponsor, I still haven’t had one of his cigars… After Rob’s review I’m determine to try one immediately… maybe something “thinner” though since I’m not a huge fan of large ring gauge cigars.

Griff nice review brother. I have smoked several of these cigars and really enjoyed the blend. I prefer the G5 but still was very pleased with the G6. Keep up the honest reviews my man.
