Partagas Serie D No. 4
Wrapper: Cuba
Binder: Cuba
Filler: Cuba
Size: Robusto
Pre Light
I bought a box of these a few months back and have been letting them sit for a while now. A box of 25 will run you about $175 if you can find them. I decided they have sat long enough and it was time to break them out. This Cuban classic is a nice light brown color with no major veins running through it. As like all Cubans it is triple capped and has a nice red band with gold lettering. With a snip from the cutter it is opened up with a nice free draw. The cold draw is sweet with a little spice as is the same of the aroma off the wrapper.
First Third
As you first light up this Serie D you are met with pepper and wood. With every puff you take your palette is coated with tons of creamy white smoke. The burn is good so far and as you get about an inch into it you are met with a nice sweet spice kind of a cinnamon or nutmeg.
2nd Third
The burn has needed a few touch ups in the second third but nothing to complain about. The spice has faded away to almost disappearing but the nice wood and sweet flavors are still there. The ash is a little flakey on the ends but seems to be pretty solid in the middle.
Final Third
The spice has kicked back up and is joined with a nice earthy flavor to go along with the wood flavor that has been the mainstay of this cigar. The burn was a little wacky on this one but wasn’t anything to rip your hair out over. The ash held on for over an inch and the smoke just poured out of this stick throughout the whole time it was lit.
Overall
This is one on those Cuban cigars you have to try and is a mainstay in my humidor. The flavors were strong and complex. It is always a nice experience smoking one of these sticks and this one didn’t disappoint. This is one you want to smoke down to the nub.
Keep em burnin’
Griff

Good review. I like these a lot, but I’m also a huge fan of Partagas habanos. I wish I could find the regional editions of some of the habanos easier.

Been a while since I’ve had one of these but it wasn’t one of my favorites at the time, but your review is making me consider giving it another go. Thanks for the review and keep up the good work.
