Tatuaje Fausto
Wrapper: Ecuadorian
Binder: Nicaragua
Filler: Nicaragua
Size: 5.5 x 52
Strength: Full
Pre Light
Today’s review is of a cigar newly released at this year’s IPCPR. The cigar today is the FT140 size and has a nice dark maduro wrapper that smells of sweet spice. The wrapper is nice and smooth with no major veins. The band is in the classic Cuban style not big a gaudy but small and to the point. The traditional triple cap is easily removed and I get a nice spice of the cold draw. I’ve heard a lot of good things about this cigar from the coverage from IPCPR and I couldn’t wait and bought a box as soon as I could so let’s hope it was worth it.
1st Third
Lighting this cigar up I am immediately met with the strength that I’ve read in other reviews and I’m glad I ate before lighting this one up. The pepper that Tatuaje is famous for is of course there to smack you in the face. The pepper is with a slight sweet coffee flavor along with some woody notes.
2nd Third
The pepper has died at the half way point of the cigar but the woody flavors are still there. There is plenty of creamy white smoke coming off this cigar and the burn has needed a few touch ups. The ash has held on pretty strong. The strength hasn’t been as bad as I originally thought it was gonna be but we’re only half way there.
Final Third
As I wrap up the final third I was met with a rich coffee flavor to go along with the wood and sweet flavors. The pepper kicked back up here in at the end of the cigar. The band came off without a problem.
Overall
I survived the Fausto! While this is a very strong cigar it was as strong as I thought it was going to be. The flavors were rich and delicious. Although the burn needed a few touch ups it wasn’t anything that would drive you crazy. I’m glad I bought a box of these and look forward to smoking many more.
Keep em burnin’
Griff

I love this cigar. I hated that the T110′s were so damn limited. To people like me the Fausto was a breath of fresh air…Great write up my man.

I bought couple of those along w/ a few LCC’s couple weeks ago, I haven’t really had an opportunity to smoke the Fausto but I move it up to my priorities. Well done Griff.
