I was re-arranging my humidor the other day when my eye caught the Signature by Guillermo León.  I’ve smoked a few of these sticks in the past but with all the new stogies that are coming out constantly, the older ones are getting forgotten at the bottom of the selves. It was time to refresh my memory with what this corona gorda is all about.

The cigar is dressed in a nice reddish wrapper with just one engraved vein. It’s rolled in perfection with no soft spots or bumps and it seems generously packed with tobacco. The ring is simple and clean and makes a nice contrast with its silver, red and brown colors. The triple cup is also a plus.

It has a soft and sweet smell. I get the same thing from the foot but also with a little pepper. The cold draw is free and gives me tobacco flavors with a hint of honey.

I was impressed by the amount of smoke in the first couple draws. It starts off peppery with some coffee in the finish. Towards the mid-point it surprises me with cocoa and leather flavors. The final third comes with hints of cedar and the added spice is increasing the body of the stick.

The whole time the Signature was burning pretty good, my only complaint was the ash that most of it was falling on my shirt. The price is not low but not high either. I guess if you were asking me some time ago I would have told you that it’s where it’s supposed to be, but today it might have some tough competition.

Once in a while, I like to smoke nice cigars that I used to enjoy… in a way it takes me back. The G. León – Signature, it’s one of these sticks for me. I’m sure most of you have tried it before but if not, you are then off track and you need to get back on.

  1. Gus I reviewed this when it first came out and in fact made my top ten of 2010. I really enjoyed the flavors and the smoothness of this smoke. Great job pal.

    • Thanks pal. To be honest I think I enjoyed this one a lot more than the previous…. I had. I guess the added resting time did good to them.

great review Gus. I must admit, I am off track because for some reason I can not remember having ever smoked this cigar. I will rectify this mistake shortly!

    • With so many sticks hitting the shelves every day it’s common for everybody to go “off track”. Thanks for the kind words

  3. Nice review Gus I have not tried this stick yet although I have seen it around next time I find one I will have to pick it up.
