Tatuaje Black Petite Lancero
Size: 6 x 38
Wrapper: Nicaraguan
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Pre Light
Today’s cigar is a very nice looking stick from the shade of the wrapper to the simple band covers on a tiny portion of the smoke. There was a couple medium size veins running through the wrapper but it seemed to give it more character instead of being an eye sore. The triple cap was perfectly applied and easily removed. The wrapper and cold draw both had a sweet smell and taste respectively. I haven’t yet mastered the art of smoking lanceros but we are gonna go ahead with this anyway.
1st Third
With the first few puffs off this cigar you are met with the classic pepper flavor that Pete and Pepin have become accustomed to having but it soon falls into the background with a very sweet nut flavor that I would compare to honey roasted nuts comes to the forefront. The burn and ash have not been a problem and so far so good.
2nd Third
As we move along through this smoke the nut and pepper flavors are there along with a coffee flavor that is rich yet not overwhelming the other flavors. The ash is holding on very long considering the small ring gage of this cigar. There is not a lot of smoke output from the draw but the burn is still steady and even.
Final Third
I am getting a nice earthy flavor here in the final third. I am proud of myself that I didn’t have to relight or make any touchups for the entire length of this experience. The ash was a bright white and held on for well over and inch. I almost smoked the band as I seemed to drift off into another world while smoking this cigar.
Overall
I am really feeling this cigar and am definitely thinking I am gonna have to pick up a box if I can find one. The flavors were rich and complex without being overpowering. It was well constructed and a beauty to look at. I would have no problem telling people they need to get out there and pick these up.
Keep em burnin’
Griff

Another fine review by the general. I have not tied these yet. I have had the black tubo but am looking forward to trying on of these if I can find them. Thanx again for the fine review Griff.

I was in a cigar shop earlier this week and the guy who worked there kept telling me that these were hit or miss on the performance – due to the fact that it was a lancero. I told him that I would take the chance on any Tatuaje at anytime. I enjoyed it. Thanks Griff.
