Room 101 Namakubi

Posted in Cigar Reviews on October 17, 2011 by Griff

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano

Binder: Honduran

Filler: Dominican and Honduran

Size: 48 x 7

Pre Light

The smoke I bring you today is a new release from Room 101 cigars. It has a light brown wrapper which has a sweet aroma coming off the cold cigar. There are no predominant veins sticking out and is not very firmly packed. After snipping off the triple cap the draw is very free flowing without much resistance. With the cigar not being firmly packed it still feels heavy in the hand which is weird.

1st Third

In the beginning of this smoke I’m not noticing much pepper and it is quite smooth. I am picking up some coffee flavors along with a nice floral flavor sort of like tea leaves.

2nd Third

As we reach around the halfway point I am met with a sweetness to go along with the floral flavors with the coffee fading to the background. There also has been notes of wood coming in and out as I move through the middle half. The cigar seems to be burning a little hot probably due to the loose draw.

Final Third

As I wrap this cigar up I did need a few relights here in the final third. The flavor profile stayed the same except for an increase in the pepper intensity. The ash held on well throughout the smoke and burn stayed even just needed a few relights.

Overall

Except for the relights I really enjoyed the balance of flavor and strength in the cigar. The flavor profile was interesting wasn’t very complex but the flavors were very different than anything I have smoked in a while. I definitely am going to have to pick up some more of these.

Keep em burnin’
