illusione ~88~ maduro

Posted in Cigar Reviews on November 7, 2011 by Griff

Wrapper: San Andreas

Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan
Pre Light
Today I bring the Illusione 88 maduro and they are some pretty nice looking sticks. The black and burgundy band goes really well with the shade of the dark chocolate wrapper. There are minimal veins and is well packed from head to foot. The aroma off the wrapper is sweet and the same goes for the cold draw.
1st Third
There is some light pepper as I initially light it up but it quickly fades. The notes I am picking up are sweet chocolate and earthiness. The draw has been excellent and the ash is a dark grey.
2nd Third
As the second third has come and gone I picked up a light floral note to go along with the chocolate flavors from the first third. The burn has been even and cool.
Final Third
The flavor profile has stayed the same as I wind down. The chocolate and earth flavor were rich and delicious. Sorry if this seems a little short and precise I am writing this while watching my daughter ice skate.
Overall
I must admit I haven’t smoked and original 88 in quite a while and I’m definitely gonna have to revisit it to pickup the differences between the two. I am really glad I picked these up and am looking forward to smoking more. Go out there and try them for yourself.
Keep em burnin’
