I picked a couple of these up while I was visiting Mike up in New York and soon as I saw them I had to have some. I’ve been hearing good things about these cigars for the past couple years but have never seen them in a local shop and I wasn’t gonna pass these up. The wrapper has am aroma of sweet hay and is the color of milk chocolate. The cigar is generously packed from head to foot and is topped off with a well applied triple cap. After snipping the cap with a straight cut from my Palio cutter I take a draw off of the cold cigar and it is pretty snug but still able to smoke.
First Third
After lighting it up am I surprised at the smoothness off the bat. I was expected at least a little bit of pepper off the foot considering it is a Nicaraguan puro. Even though the draw is tight there is a lot of smoke coming with every draw. The flavor profile I am getting here in the beginning of the cigar is of cocoa and nuts with a slight earthiness in the background.
Second Third
The burn and ash have been pretty good considering the tightness of the draw. The flavors that I was getting in the beginning of the cigar have stayed around through the second third except I am picking up notes of wood here and there. The retrohale is very smooth and not harsh on the palette at all.
Final Third
As I wrapped up this Esencia it had a nice sweet finish. There was rich cocoa and caramel flavors with a nutty background. It was like eating a Snickers bar haha. I am still shocked at whole the burn turned out with the draw issue. The ash was strong and dark grey. It was a definite finger burner.
Overall
I am definitely glad I picked these up on my trip even though I had to pay that ridiculous New York tobacco tax. If I can’t find them here in PA I am going to be forced to fork out the cash and have Mike pick me up more from Nate over at Badger’s Den. The flavors were wonderful and blended together nicely. It was medium to full bodied and was a nice little desert after dinner with all the sweet flavors. I strongly suggest getting your hands on some of these if you get the chance. These are made by the same folks that make the Palio cutters and they have some great quality products.
Keep em burnin’
Griff

Thanx for the review Griff. I hear about these all the time on “Dog Watch Cigar Radio”, (Palio sponcers the show) and have been intersted in trying them at some point. Sounds like you liked them. Keep up the great work Griff.

Great to see the review Griff, I was able to try these a couple of years ago as one of the guys from palio sent me a couple of these. They were fine smokes, the only place I’ve ever seen these is in a shop here in New York as well. Great job on the review mailman and keep delivering the great reviews.
