Rocky Patel Vintage 2003 Cameroon
Wrapper: Cameroon
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Nicaraguan and Dominican
Size: 6×50
Pre Light
The wrapper on this Rocky smoke is a chocolate shade of brown with a triple cap and double banded. The draw after I clipped the cap off was perfect with a sweet taste off the cold draw. The aroma off the cold wrapper is of sweet hay and feels pretty packed from head to foot.
1st Third
Lighting up this stick I am met with a slight pepper which dies out after a quarter inch or so. After the pepper dies I start to pick of earthiness and a sweetness that I can’t quite put my finger on yet.
2nd Third
The burn on the cigar has been perfect. The burn line has been sharp and burning slow. The ash is holding on strong but can be a little flakey around the edges. The flavors of earth and that sweetness are still there with notes of wood starting to kick in as I reach the halfway point.
Final Third
The flavor profile stayed the same except for the pepper kicked up a notch here on the home stretch. The burn needed no touch ups throughout my experience.
Overall
The four I smoked for this review were all pretty consistent between the flavor profile and construction. I would definitely pick a few more of these up. They were well worth the money spent on them. So go out there and give em a try, don’t take my word for it.
Keep em burnin’
Griff

I was gifted one or two of these and they are resting in my humidor now. Sounds like they’re going to be worth it soon! Thanks!

Nice review Rob, I haven’t always been sold on RPs I do like his Connie but these may have to be tried. They look like a solid stick.

Thanx for the review Rob. I have tried this stick. I to am not a big RP fan and also not a huge Cameroon fan either. Keep up the great work brotha!

I have never smoked an RP I didn’t like. At one time I had more RP in my humidor than any other cigar. I have broadened my taste since those days and now have a much larger variety (that came in part from living next door to an avid cigar enthusiast). I need to get me some more when I get the opportunity to restock my humidor (maybe I’ll get a nice Fed refund this year). Keep ‘em coming Griff. I haven’t been reading many reviews lately but with winter here it will be a great time to catch up.

I was curious how these were, there are a few new RP sticks out and am looking forward to giving them a go. Thanks for the Review of this smoke!
