Rocky Patel Nording
Wrapper: Costa Rican Maduro
Binder: Mexican
Filler: Honduran/Nicaraguan
Size: Robusto
Pre Light
The Rocky Patel Nording has been out for quite a while but it was the first time I’ve seen them in a B&M so I decided to grab a few and give them a try. The maduro wrapper has a sweet spice smell to it and doesn’t have any major veins running through it. After slicing the cap off and taking a drag off the cold cigar I get a sweet wood flavor. The draw is very free and this is troubling but we will have to wait and see.
1st Third
I light up the Nording using some stick matches which I have been doing quite a lot lately. With my first few puffs I am picking up spice and earthiness. There is lots of creamy heavy smoke that seems to sit still in mid-air. As I reach the end of the 1st third I am starting to pick up some woody flavors.
2nd Third
The wood flavors have definitely picked up to go along with the earthiness. Construction hasn’t been the greatest. The loose draw hasn’t become problematic and the cigar is burning hot and tunneling. Needed a couple relights in the 2nd third but nothing real annoying.
Final Third
The last inch or so introduced a nut and coffee flavor along with the spice kicking back up a little. The cigar had a couple of voids in it which was most likely what was causing such a loose draw and the tunneling.
Overall
This cigar to me was just OK. Wasn’t great wasn’t bad just OK. Construction wasn’t good but the flavors were but that’s just my opinion. Go out and give em a try.
Keep em burnin’

Hey Griff nice reivew, not a major RP fan but some of his stuff is good I like the Connies he puts out. As long as the price point isn’t to bad this might be worth checking out. Where all the sticks burn problems?

Thanx for the review Griff. I have had this stick and was not a fan. RP does have some good sticks but overall, I am not an RP fanboy. Keep up the good work. I don’t have faith the Sabres are even going to make the playoffs now.
