This week I am reviewing a smaller in length robusto rather than my usual toro size stick. With cold weather gripping most of the U.S. many of us are switching to shorter smokes. The wrapper on this robusto sized smoke was creamy/caramel ecuadorian Connecticut wich was mostly smooth and almost vien free. The vitolas was well packed and girthy at a 52 ring guage.this is one of Altadis’ s value blends.
THE WHOLE SHABANG; the flavor profile was fairly straight forward. there hints of cinnamon and caramel on ignition and first draws of the foot. this settled into a woodsy and smoked almond flavor profile through out this mild bodied and medium flavored cigar. However the draw on 4 of the robustos( i smoked at random from the box)had a tight draw about midway through. This was a bit annoying but with a little work I was able to get past this. This cigar was a good mid day smoke and well worth the 2.28 per stick price.
THE WRAPP UP;As I mentioned with the colder weather coming in many of us are forced into our garages or finding some place out of the wind.I will be reviewing some shorter smokes in the coming weeks. It may be that I purchased a bad box but for a major player like atladis the consistently tight spot in exactly the same place shouldnt happen.Still I enjoyed smoking this milder than usual( for me) cigar.Given the price and the reality of maybe having to put this down due to frost bite, this isn’t a bad choice at all.It will be in my rotation as a winter smoke.alll the best-smokinjoe
