Ave Maria Corona: 5.0 x 45
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
PRE LIGHT; The looks are very nice with a clean triple cap, no major veins or imperfections, and a nice, red tinged leathery wrapper. there is a smell of barn yard and earthy peat. the length of cigar feels firm and feels well packed. The band is worth noting as it is (IMO.) artistic and eye-catching. this cigar is blended by AJ Fernandez who is a favorite of many including myself.
FIRST HALF; The Carona cut cleanly and ignited without any problems. The intial flavors my palet was met with was a strong blast of red cracked pepper, strong notes of oak and leather. This flavor profile continues for about the whole length of the first half. The draw was firm but not something you had to work. The flavors began to mellow towards the middle of this smoke.
SECOND HALF ; The flavors mellowed out at about the halfway point and settled into a nice Coffee, earth and leather core, some cedar accents, a little bit of sweetness, and a moderate amount of spiciness on the inhale. It reminded of a nestor miranda(another one who I like). the bodie and flavor profile settled into a strong medium bodie and flavor profile from the full bodie and full flavor that predominates the first half of this smoke.
THE FINISH; A.J. Fenandez is well-known for his blends( mano’War, Ruination, Diesel UC, and san lotana to name a few). That inital “blast” of flavor is a hallmark of his. This smoke,in this size, has a long finish and must be paced to avoid over heating. This blend would match well with a strong full flavored coffee curb side on a spring day girl watching. ;) ALL THE BEST-SMOKINJOE
