Rocky Patel Autumn Collection 2009

Wrapper: Colorado Maduro

Binder: Nicaragua

Filler: Nicaragua

Size: 6 x 52

Pre Light

The cigar I am smoking today has a sweet but spicy aroma off of the wrapper and foot. It has a minimal amount of small veins except for one that seems to be protruding out by the cap. It is well packed and has a nice in hand feel. As I clipped the cap it started to unravel a little but nothing major.

1st Third

After lighting up the Autumn Collection I was hit with some pepper off the bat but died down at the end of the first inch. I also picked up notes of earth with a slight wood in the background. Burn was even through beginning stages of the cigar and was burning cool.

2nd Third

Here in middle portion of the cigar the spice really died down and was replaced with a subtle sweetness to go along with the earth and wood flavors picked up in the first third. The burn has been perfect but the outer edges of the ash have been a little flakey.

Final Third

As I wrap up this RP the woody flavors seemed to really come to the forefront with notes of cocoa popping in and out at times. The earthy notes picked up the first and second thirds were still present but seemed to fall to the background.

Overall

Construction was good considering I didn’t need any relights or touch ups and the little snafu at the beginning with the cap didn’t even the cigars performance at all. Flavors were good and well blended. With a price tag of around $6 it is not bad at all. So get out there and grab a few if you can find em.

Keep em burnin’

Griff

Great review Rob. I am not a huge RP fan but this one sounds interesting. Go Sabres!
