Elogio Serie LSV

Wrapper: Nicaragua

Binder: Nicaragua

Filler: Nicaragua

Size: Robusto 5×50

Pre Light

The wrapper on the Elogio is a beautiful shade of dark brown with oil just seeming to ooze off of it. The smell of the cold wrapper is a sweet barnyard with a slight pepper. The veins on the wrapper are quite small and the cigar feels well packed from head to foot. After clipping of the cap I get a taste of cocoa and spice on the cold draw. The draw is just the way I like it.

1st Third

The first quarter inch has that typical Nicaraguan pepper to it but after that settles down but doesn’t quite leave I pick up a sweetness and wood flavor. There is a lot of smoke coming off both the head and foot. The ash is a dark grey and seems to hold on strong.

2nd Third

Already in the middle portion of the cigar and I’ve had to relight 3 times. The cigar seems to be burning hot and tunneling. The flavors here in the 2nd third are the same as the first but with a touch of citrus on the aftertaste.

Final Third

The pepper has kicked bank up in final inches of the LSV. I had to relight the cigar at least 5 more times. The flavor profile was met with a nut flavor to go along with the wood and sweetness.

Overall

I was pretty upset with this cigar not because I didn’t enjoy but the construction was poor. The flavors were rich and blended well together but the constant relighting became a real pain in the ass. I need to search out some more of these though considering the one I smoked for the review was a gift and can’t really draw a conclusion on such a limited sample.

Keep em burnin’

Griff

  1. The flavors sound enjoyable, but nothing annoys me more than constant relighting (other than it completely falling apart). I hope this one was just an anomaly. Thanks for the review.

Thanx for the review Griff. I have never seen these cigars before. I would be interested to hear what you think if you get a chance to smoke some more of these. Maybe you could do a review where you re-visit some cigars you have reviewed in the past. Keep up the great work.

  3. Griff,

I totally understand your disappointment with a cigar due to the construction. I had the same issue with the AB Black Market, for some reason I couldn’t get it to draw well and I know the cigar is a hit b/c everyone is talking about. I just got a bum stick and it made for a bad smoke. Oh well plenty of other cigars out there to enjoy
