Pre Light
The wrapper on the 1988 is nice looking with no major veins and a slight oil sheen covering it. Smell of the cold wrapper is very mild and is off sweet spice. The cigar is triple capped and after removing it the draw is great. On the cold draw I’m picking up that spice I was getting off the wrapper aroma.
1st Third
As I light up this old Macanudo I am getting a slight pepper sensation on my palette with a very mild wood flavor coming and going from time to time. The cigar seems to be burning fast but not hot.
2nd Third
The flavors here in the middle portion of the cigar have not changed. The same mild pepper and wood flavors is all I’m picking up. The burn line has stayed sharp and it has slowed down considerable from the beginning of the cigar. The ash is holding on for over an inch and is a slight gray color.
Final Third
Not much to say here in the final few drags of the cigar. The flavors have stayed the same throughout the entire cigar.
Overall
This cigar has been a huge disappointment. The flavor profile was very bland and mild. If this cigar cost maybe $4 I’d smoke it again but at a price tag of nearly $28 I will not be purchasing any of these again. On the bright side for a cigar over 20 years old construction and burn were perfect.
Keep em burnin’
Griff
