I hope everyone had a great Father’s Day yesterday. Today’s cigar is a nice looking cigar with a dark brown maduro wrapper with a pig tail cap. There are no major veins on the wrapper and it has a barnyard aroma to it. I’ve always been a fan of the corona vitola which I don’t see many cigars coming in lately. After cutting off the pig tailed cap the draw is perfect and has a sweet woody flavor to it.
I lit this PDR with some wooden matches witch I’ve been doing quite a lot lately just seems not to scorch the head like I do sometimes with my torch lighters especially on the smaller ring gauges. In the first few drags off the cigar I get a slight spice along with a sweet coffee note. The ash is dark gray and produces a lot of smoke.
That sweet coffee note is joined in the middle portion of this maduro with notes of dark chocolate. The burn line has stayed even and hasn’t needed any touch ups or relights. The ash holds on for quite a while which doesn’t seem to be common in smaller ring gauge cigars.
Wrapping up today’s cigar the final third brought those same dark chocolate and coffee flavors along with notes of a rich earthiness.
I enjoyed this cigar as I did with the others in the PDR line. The flavors suit my flavor preference and there were no construction issues which to me really make the experience so much better when you’re not worrying about relights and burns. Once again I hope all you fathers enjoyed your day and smoked something nice yesterday.
Keep em burnin’
